Frequently asked questions

Do you see patients in Spanish and other languages?
Yes. Dr. Lujan is a native Spanish speaker — similarly we have interpreters in person or video of most languages spoken in the Boston area. Consultations, surgical planning, and follow-up can happen entirely in Spanish, English, or other languages to make you feel comfortable and ensure excellent communication.
How do I schedule an appointment for consultation?
If it is a reconstructive condition covered by insurance, you will need a referral from a provider. You can call our office for more information. If it is a cosmetic consultation, you can call directly to our office and leave a message — our cosmetic clinic staff will reach out to you within 24 hours. If you are not sure whether it is cosmetic or covered by insurance, you can call our office and we are happy to find out for you.
Do you accept insurance?
Reconstructive procedures (cleft care, craniofacial conditions, cancer reconstruction, trauma) are typically covered by most major insurance plans through Boston Medical Center. Aesthetic procedures are self-pay. We help you verify coverage before any decision.
At what age should my child be seen for a cleft or head-shape concern?
As early as possible — ideally in the first weeks of life. Early evaluation allows options like ear molding and proper timing of cleft repair. It is never too early to ask.
What happens at the first consultation?
A full evaluation, an honest conversation about goals and options — surgical and non-surgical — and a clear plan. No pressure, no commitments.
I live outside Boston (or outside the U.S.). Can I still be your patient?
Yes. We regularly coordinate virtual consultations and travel logistics for out-of-town and international patients, including patients from Latin America.
